"The measure of my own success is the success that I help others achieve."
Ian was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, while all of his family hail from the UK. International roots, combined with his father’s career in the travel industry, caused him to have a thirst for adventure from a young age. Ian has visited 26 countries, and lived in 5 countries on 4 continents, resulting in him having been voted ‘most likely to die of jet lag’.
Ian holds an advanced diploma in International Hotel Management, and used this training to begin a career in the hospitality industry. He spent 12 years working at properties ranging from a 10 room boutique lodge on the banks of the Zambezi, to a 200+ room, 5-star hotel in Sandton, JHB. After years of hard work in hospitality Ian felt it was time to try something new.
In 2009, Ian joined Cerebra Communications, and his marketing career kicked off. Six years and six promotions later, he was group general manager. During this time, Ian developed valuable marketing skills and worked with brands such as Vodafone, Lexus, Walmart, Samsung and Toyota. In late 2015, he saw an opportunity to join Zeald, and moved to NZ to take on the role of marketing manager.
Outside of the office, Ian loves to spend time with his wife Kate and two children. He still loves to travel, and enjoys photography and fly fishing whenever he gets the opportunity.
FUN FACT: Ian was voted as one of Mail & Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans in 2015.
