Haydn’s big goal is to own a 12 metre sailing cat and cruise the Pacific Islands. Work-wise, he one day wants to take Jono’s job! |
Haydn was born in National Womens Hospital in Auckland. His family lived in a whole pile of different places during his childhood … including Onehunga, Mt Wellington, Waihi, Ellerslie, Whangarei, Bucklands Beach and Hamilton before the family eventually moved to Southampton in England (as you can probably imagine, he attended heaps of different schools).
After Haydn finished school he started a management degree at Waikato University before getting bored and moving to England to become a PADI qualified Dive Instructor. He went to Israel and Egypt and worked as a dive instructor for 6 months before moving to London and working 9 months in different temp jobs. There was then a short stint in Mexico before moving back to London for another 9 months. During this time, he met his wife-to-be, Hazel, on a plane to Washington DC.
After all that travel, Haydn returned to NZ to study computer programming at AUT and completed a Diploma of Programming with Distinction. He moved back to England and was employed by Perwill.com as a programmer working with XML and EDI technologies.
He stayed in that role for about 3 years before moving to a new role with Spargonet.com as a systems analyst for 2 years. Haydn did a lot of traveling in that role, often living for short stints in Prague and Warwick (England). After finishing up with Spargonet.com he spent some time in Guatemala, before returning to NZ with his wife to take up a role with Zeald.com.
Haydn’s leisure pursuits revolve around his main love - Scuba Diving. He is a PADI, SDI and TDI qualified instructor. He also loves skiing and snowboarding. For relaxation Haydn turns to music and likes all styles - except pop. He admits to playing the trumpet – rustily!
