Tamara Al-Salim - A Biography

Tamara studied IT at the University of Auckland and gained a Bachelor of Science majoring in Computer Science. From the many areas and subjects that were covered, she was very interested in Human Computer Interaction, Logic and Web Development.

At the completion of her degree, Tamara pursued a further certification in Advance Human Computer Interaction. During her studies Tamara worked at the university’s computer labs in a desktop support role helping other students with any software or hardware issues they were experiencing.

Upon the completion of her degree and post graduate studies Tamara left her university employment for the real world and began her first job at the Bank of New Zealand in Wellington on their PC Banking Help Desk. Tamara advanced from there to become a Software Installer and Trainer where she continually visited businesses around the country to help them install and configure their banking software, and train the users on it and where required further customise the software to suit their commercial needs.

After relocating back to Auckland, Tamara started a new role at Progressive Enterprises Limited as a technical specialist.  She advanced from the technical specialist role to become a shift leader and following that stood in for the team leader while the team leader took some extended leave.

After battling through a restructure at Progressive Enterprises Ltd, Tamara joined the team at Zeald as a Technical Sales Specialist.  Tamara is responsible for working alongside the sales team and assisting them with clients that have customised technical requirements to determine whether the Zeald systems can fulfil their specific technical requirements.  She also often assists the Zeald support team with their more tricky technical questions.  She is real ‘people’ person and loves a good laugh.  You usually hear her well before you see her!

There aren’t many people in the world that can honestly say “I’m doing what I love”, but Tamara reckons she can.  ”I am a perfectionist and I like getting things done right. My role at Zeald enables me to help people, give the customers what they need, take the big picture and turn it into a plan.”

Outside of work, Tamara loves the games of squash and tennis.  “Both of these games allow you to take out your frustrations on a tiny ball again and again.  You can’t get better than that!”  She also enjoys Ceroc classes, swimming and skiing.  Tamara is also a keen painter using both oil and acrylics.  You will find many of her paintings about her house and if you’re lucky enough you sometimes get one as a gift!
