Rose Love - A biography

As a consultant for Zeald, Rose says she is determined to help her clients achieve the most successful online business they can.

Rose Love is passionate about people and the potential of today’s interactive Web environment, which is why she considers her work as an online consultant for Zeald her “dream job.”

“I wanted to work with a company that was the best at what they do and that delivers to its clients what it says it will. I researched Zeald thoroughly and decided the company met those ideals. Their design and development teams are the best at what they do, and this combined with proven online sales and marketing principles, makes them a winner,” says Rose.

As a consultant for Zeald, Rose says she is determined to help her clients achieve the most successful online business they can. She loves to spend time with business owners helping them gain a greater understanding of how to use web sites effectively and updating them with the latest information. “It is truly rewarding to work with such a range of people and organisations. I’m interested in the research behind what makes a web site effective, and in the specific statistics and activity trends of web site users. Clients with a Zeald website have excellent measurement tools to manage their web sites and can test and fine tune them to ensure they are highly effective. They are also kept up to date with the latest trends on the internet,” says Rose.

She says understanding the principles of creating a persuasive web site and realising how an end user will perceive and use it is business critical.  “As a tool, a web site is an online representation of your entire business and its people, so it should reflect not only what you do but who you are. This is achieved not only through design and content but also through how the web site functions – what features it offers and how easy the site is to use,” says Rose.

Rose and her husband have owned and operated a business in Auckland and overseas for the past 15 years, which she says is an ideal backdrop for small business web consulting.  “I am very aware how difficult it is to create time to work on a business as opposed to working in it – and work on web sites often falls into this category. However it is increasingly important for businesses to have a dynamic and compelling web presence with 90 per cent of consumers now using the Internet as a first port of call in their search for a product or service,” says Rose.

Rose has a long and successful history in sales and marketing roles, both nationally and internationally. She has worked in property marketing, hospitality and health and fitness management roles, and business performance consulting and advertising. She says each role has been deliberately varied along with the industries that contain them in order to build challenge and scope into her career and build upon established skill sets.  “Over the years I have worked a number of contractual projects, including one with Primesite Outdoor Advertising. This involved sourcing outdoor advertising sites throughout New Zealand, identifying the best sites with the most traffic flow for outdoor advertising, and approaching and negotiating with property owners to position advertising on their properties. I also worked for Pacifica Lodges and Inns marketing properties within the group and consulting with business owners to help them increase their business performance and marketing effectiveness,” says Rose.

Beyond work, Rose is passionate about leading a balanced life and about pursuing interests including personal health and fitness and the performing arts. However, she says it’s hard to turn off the desire to constantly learn and upskill – a personality trait that led her to complete a Health and Fitness Prescription through AUT part time, and launch Love Learning Drama classes in conjunction with tutor and friend Terry Allen.  ”I have trained to level three with Studio 111 in Screen Performance and worked on a number of projects over the past 12 years. The potential for high quality video on the web for promotion of products and services is exciting and I am interested in online instruction and education in general,” says Rose.

Rose has served on a number of educational committees, including a stint as secretary for Appletree Education, a committee member for Auckland Gifted Children's Association, and her current role as treasurer for Bridge Home Educators. She says the skills gained from these community roles have been invaluable towards understanding how people best learn and communicate.  “I have a great understanding of the variety of resources available for education and curriculum, which ties in with a genuine desire to help others, and my own thirst for knowledge in areas I am passionate about. For example, I read every sales and marketing book I can lay my hands on and go to hear every international speaker on the subject. Sales and marketing success, whether it involves the web as a channel or not, it requires planning, commitment, knowledge and continual fine tuning to achieve business goals – this is something Zeald understands very well,” says Rose.

Rose is married with two children – James and Ruby. Through her exposure to international roles and contracts, the family has travelled extensively including longer periods in the Cook Islands and the UK, and continues to enjoy travelling for holidays in addition to outdoor pursuits.

She regularly attends ‘Spin classes’, walks, loves spending time with family – and when possible devours new science material.  “You’ll find me reading New Scientist or the science sections of newspapers and magazines – along with everything else in my life I just love science.”
