Steve began his career in an advertising agency where he was involved in the Production and Design areas... |
After graduating, Steve attended the Auckland College of Education where he completed a Diploma of Teaching. This was a pivotal time and inspired him to make a real commitment to becoming an educator. After completing his Diploma of Teaching, Steve taught Visual Arts in secondary schools for fifteen years, in school holiday programs. One of his more interesting experiences was to teach to the inmates of a maximum security prison.
Steve’s most rewarding teaching experiences have been the result of a collaborative approach where individuals are able to work cohesively to achieve an overall objective. Zeald.com has proven itself to be such an organization to Steve.
‘Not only is there a cohesive staff environment but there is also a highly-charged creative atmosphere which brings about innovative solutions, time and again,’ says Steve.
Teaching enabled Steve to develop his knowledge and skills in the areas of visual communication and learning methodology. These have become his core interests and have been a constant source of inspiration.
‘The key ingredient in any business has got to be the people in the organization, how they communicate, and extend themselves to continually improve what they are doing,’ says Steve.
The transition from the teaching profession to the corporate world has been a very easy one for Steve to make as his key competencies in education and visual communication are essential to the role of E-Business Consultant. These skills, together with the experience he gained by assisting in running an E-Commerce website has made him an advocate of online business and the Internet phenomenon.
Steve’s personal interests are still with the visual arts, especially painting, photography, and design which have captivated him for the last twenty years. In addition to being an E-Business Consultant, he is also in the process of building a Web-based art gallery business.
Other interests that have been consistent throughout Steve’s life have been outdoor recreation activities such as camping, tramping, kayaking, and cycling. The yearly family camping holiday has been a source of many cherished memories.
Steve has had twenty years in a wonderful marriage with Jill. They have three children, a live-in mother-in-law (definitely to be recommended), two cats and two dogs, all of which provide for an extremely dynamic household. Steve believes he is clearly drawn to high energy situations and thrives on a challenge.
Before they had children, Jill and Steve travelled extensively throughout South America and the Pacific region. They intend to visit more mainstream destinations with their family in the near future.
‘No doubt that will include a few theme parks, if the children play any part in the decision- making, but we are looking forward to those new experiences,’ says Steve.
