There has been no shortage of excitement in the life of Dene Robinson, the first Zeald.com E-Business Consultant in the South Island.
Having spent a summer as Manager of Scott Base in Antarctica and six years as Assistant Coach of the Canterbury Rams basketball team, Dene can call on a wide array of experience to bring to his consulting role.
Dene is a true-blue ‘Mainlander’, having lived in the South Island for most of his life, apart from a two year stint of OE in the UK, plus his two summer seasons at Scott Base. So the true-blue Kiwi company, Zeald.com, was Dene’s choice when he decided to use his 17 years experience in IT and Financial Management in a more challenging role. After gaining his B.Comm from the University of Canterbury, Dene worked in a variety of roles, including Accountant, Customer Service, Sales Support, Sports Retail and Financial Controller. He is keen to use this extensive business experience to work with clients to deliver online website and marketing solutions. Dene has a strong IT management background which is invaluable in finding the best way to utilize the power of the Internet to deliver superior outcomes for business clients.
As well as having had the wonderful opportunity to live and work in Antarctica, Dene enjoyed living for three years on the West Coast of the South Island. For this period, he worked as the Business Services Manager for the Department of Conservation based in Hokitika. In this conservation role, Dene experienced the magnificent sights, sounds and experience the West Coast offers, from Cascade to Karamea. During this time he built up such a love for the Coast that Dene bought a property at the beautiful and tranquil Lake Kaniere, where he gets away to as often as possible.
Dene is engaged to Toni, to be married in February 2008, and have 4 year Macy living with them. All the family share Dene’s love of the West Coast and enjoy getting away to the ‘Lake house’ whenever possible. Dene and Toni are both very involved in coaching sports teams; Toni with Canterbury netball and Dene with Canterbury basketball. In 2007, both were involved with sports and video analysis with the Canterbury Flames netball franchise.
As well as his interest in basketball, Dene has competed at a national level in swimming, surf life saving and triathlon. These days Dene continues to be a keen swimmer, training at least 3 times a week, rising early for a 6 am swim with a group of like-minded friends. It is this same dedication that Dene brings to the role of E-Business Consultant.
