Originally from South Africa, Werner Schreiber has opted for the lifestyle of South Canterbury and the natural beauty of the Southern Alps to build a new life for himself and his family - Heidi (a secondary school teacher), Joshua and Danielle. “Immigration for us has had the marvelous spin-off of bringing us that much closer as we explore and grow together as a family.

Werner has a background in property sales and management with seven years as Marketing Manager for the Kloppenheim Country Estate a high profile conference hotel East of Johannesburg. His most exciting moment came when he created a revolutionary web-based service to hotel owners which became an instant hit and earned him the industry-wide nickname of “Mr room-swaps”. “Starting, running and subsequently selling this venture taught me a huge amount about the potential of doing business online. It also taught me the value of approaching things differently, thinking in an almost peculiar way to put more than two and two together. I often had the comment from respected veterans of the hospitality industry: “Why didn't we think of that?” which proved to me that a key principle in being successful online is “thinking outside the box” and almost training your mind in that direction and letting the creative juices flow.

Werner holds a Bachelor of Art Degree in Philosophy and enjoys the craft of building restoration. He is currently in the process of restoring a 1920's villa to its former glory. Before coming to New Zealand he travelled extensively in Europe, the United States and throughout Africa.
