Margie has worked in the media industry for some time, the opportunity to move her skills and experience in advertising as a consultant for Zeald was a natural progression. “I was very impressed with the Zeald systems and professional approach. Their focus on research and development, future proofing, is something I want to be part of.” says Margie
Margie comes from a rural background, living North of Auckland on a small lifestyle farm while her children were growing up, milking cows and feeding 36 sows, raising their progeny to sell. When the children were older it was time for a new challenge, working for the Telecom Local Directories starting up the new directory in Rodney.
In the field working with a wide range of clients, it was great listening to clients and working out marketing and promotions plans to suit their business. On going development ensured that the products and work was always evolving and looking at ways to improve. Keeping up with new products meant upskilling and regular training with some of the best the New Zealand has to offer. Motivational speakers were at many of these training sessions, with Sir Peter Blake talking about his time at sea being one of the highlights during this time.
When the opportunity came to work for New Zealand Horse & Pony Magazine developing the advertising to grow the magazine. This combined her marketing, advertising skills and her passion for horse riding and was a very exciting time. Travelling both nationally and internationally for the magazine.
Margie’s next position as Marketing and Sales Manager for a manufacturer and importer of a range of products. This involved, developing a business plan from scratch and working closely with the business owner. A small company meant that she had to be versatile and the position included training the sales staff, preparing and developing the marketing and sales material, budgeting for promotions and analysing sales to effectiveness. Travelling overseas regularly to source new products and trends.
It was during this time that the choice to buy land in Mangawhai presented itself, and the travel to Auckland was no longer so attractive. Margie started working for the local newspapers, enjoying not having to deal with the long commutes and heavy traffic. It was extremely rewarding calling on many local business and services in the Northland region to help them with their advertising and promotions.
An avid equestrian, Margie finds her ten acres enough and is developing it from a bare block. Margie has three children, with her elder two children living in Brisbane, she has time to spend with her daughter Katelyn, riding at the beach and forest and making the most of all that Mangawhai has to offer.
Currently she has two horses and a pony, four cows, dog and cat.
If Margie is not out seeing clients you will find her driving her horse truck to the beach, or at home, fencing and doing all the chores involved in living in the country.
“The internet is such an exciting place; I am so pleased to work with Zeald and local business to get amazing results on online.”
