Award winning web company celebrates seminar century in Ashburton

Fast-growing web site design company Zeald has chosen the new Ashburton Trust Events Centre as the venue for its 100th free seminar on “Discovering the Secrets of Website Persuasion”.

The free seminar on 24th July will be delivered by the company’s South Island Business Development Manager, Dene Robinson.

Dene, whose experience includes a summer as Manager of Scott Base in Antarctica and six years as Assistant Coach of the Canterbury Rams basketball team, says that while people are increasingly getting online, more than 200,000 small and medium-sized businesses in New Zealand are either not getting enough from their websites, or don't even know how to go about getting one.

“We have found that one of the main reasons many business owners and managers were not achieving great results online is due to a lack of knowledge. That’s not surprising as the Internet didn’t even exist when many of today’s business owners were at school.

“But for businesses and organisations in places like Ashburton, the web offers a gateway to the rest of New Zealand and the world. It’s a chance for people to expand their options by effectively opening another branch or division of their business.

“But in doing so they need to recognise they need to pay more than ‘virtual’ attention to their virtual operations to make them successful. As with any aspect of business, understanding, effort and attention are an essential part of getting great results.

“We aim to tell people how to use the web more effectively and to remove the barriers that make the difference between an average on-line presence and a very successful one.”

Dene says that Zeald started its free seminar programme in October 2005 and since then nearly 5000 people have attended one of the events.

“They’re so successful that we have at least 27 more planned for the balance of this year, including South Island seminars in Blenheim, Nelson, Greymouth, Rangiora, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown.

“Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no pressure to buy and 95% of the content is purely educational. It’s just part of our ‘give to receive’ philosophy of business.

“Sure, we do tell people about what we do, but that’s it. Giving is part of our culture and we generally find that it pays dividends in the long run as well.

There is a large information gap out there. And, with 95% of adult internet users now researching goods or services online, the more web-literate business owners become, the greater their chance of achieving online success.”

Zeald receives many requests from business associations, clubs, networking groups and conference organisers to provide speakers and Dene says that the company meets these requests as often as it can, using its team of e-business consultants.
