Dion Roosenbrand started NZ Muscle while he was at university in 2006. In the early days, NZ Muscle was run from his garage, but he quickly identified a gap in the market, and the business grew from there. Spirited along by his passion for the gym and keeping active, his focus has always been on providing customers with the means to reach their fitness goals.

 NZ Muscle supplies supplements to a wide range of customers; from body builders, to people just starting out at the gym. They are widely known across New Zealand because of their excellent customer service, and competitive deals.

THE CHALLENGE

WHY NZ MUSCLE CAME TO ZEALD

While Dion had been having good success with NZ Muscle, he was looking to increase the orders and revenue from the website. Capturing new customers and retaining existing customers was a key way to achieve these goals. 

What Zeald needed to do was to highlight the competitive deals NZ Muscle was offering, and to make the website easier to navigate. As many of Dion's clients were return customers, they knew what they were looking for. Having clear search functionality would ensure customers would be able to locate their favourite product quickly.

THE STRATEGY 

#1 PROMOTING KEY BENEFITS ONLINE

NZ Muscle had a great understanding of what it was their customers were after; customer service and competitive offerings.  From there it was a discussion around how they could promote these key benefits to their customers. 

Email marketing is a great tool for a variety of reasons; it not only keeps communication pathways open between you and your customer, but it also allows you to update your customers with your new offers, and goings-on.  Having a clear conversion pathway is critical to creating a successful email campaign;  having obvious buttons or clear directive on how a customer can take advantage of your offer is essential.

#2 CUSTOMER FOCUSED REDESIGN

Because their product was largely a consumable, it was important that customers would return when they needed more supplements.  A great way to encourage this was to provide customers with a buying experience that they would enjoy. Zeald redesigned the website with NZ Muscle's customers in mind, creating a 'hardcore' look.   

Another key focus of the redesign consisted of creating a clear menu that would enable all NZ Muscle customers to find what they were after. Product categories were chosen which would speak directly to customers goals; 'Muscle Building', 'Weight Loss' and 'General Health'.

NZ Muscle continues to have a great uptake in their email marketing, by keeping them full of competitive offers that appeal to their customers. 

Dion's vision for NZ Muscle involves growing the company, and maybe opening some more retail shops. Part of the growth will be maintaining a strong online presence. At the end of the day, Dion says, "we just want to sell supplements to gym-goers and help them succeed in the goals that they have".
